Bantwal, Jun 4: A major accident was averted after a KSRTC bus travelling from Alike towards Vittal, Puttur and Uppinangady lost control and veered off the road near Ukkuda-Apperipade on Wednesday morning.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the morning between Ukkuda and Apperipade near Vittal. The bus was carrying a large number of school and college students at the time, as it was the peak morning commute period.

Sources said the bus, which was reportedly moving at a high speed, went out of the driver's control and drifted towards the roadside. Fortunately, the vehicle came to a halt after its wheels got stuck in the mud, preventing it from overturning and averting what could have been a serious accident.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Motorists passing through the area have been advised to exercise caution while driving, as the roadside terrain remains vulnerable, especially during adverse weather conditions.

Authorities are expected to assess the circumstances that led to the incident.
