Beltangady, June 4: Dharmasthala police arrested a man and seized a pick-up vehicle for illegally transporting a bovine near the Manjushree bus stand at Somanthadka in Beltangady on the night of Wednesday, June 3.
Acting on reliable information, Dharmasthala police sub-inspector Samarth R Ganiger and his personnel intercepted the pick-up vehicle. Upon inspection, they found the animal being transported without any valid permits.

The arrested individual has been identified as Anil P (34), a resident of Thotathadi in Beltangady. During interrogation, Anil confessed that he had purchased the bovine from Raghavendra Bhat (45) with the intention of slaughtering it. He further revealed that he was transporting the animal in collusion with Thomas from Thotathadi (30) and Kabir from Kakkinje (28).
A case has been registered at the Dharmasthala police station under sections 5, 7, and 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020. Further investigation is underway.
