Udupi: SMVITM students develop E-Voting-secure biometric voting system

Media Release

Udupi, Jun 5: Students from the Computer Science and Engineering Department have developed a secure biometric voting system titled 'E-Voting System'. The project was carried out by Sathwik S Bhat, Lolakshi, Manasi, and Prathiksha Patil under the guidance of Preethi M.

The system uses biometric technologies such as face recognition and iris detection to verify voters before allowing them to cast their vote. This ensures that each individual can vote only once, thereby reducing the chances of duplication and fraud.

Designed to function even without internet access, the system operates on an offline platform, making it suitable for use in remote areas. It includes secure vote storage, real-time result visualization, and an audit log to maintain transparency and accountability. This project highlights how technology can be leveraged to build a more secure, reliable, and efficient voting process.
