Pune, Jun 6: A 26-year-old man was arrested after allegedly assaulting police personnel, creating a ruckus inside a police station and issuing death threats to officers while under the influence of alcohol in Pune, police said.
The accused, identified as Rohan Gautam Salve, has been booked under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Maharashtra Police Act and the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.
According to police, the incident began in the early hours of June 5 when officers on night patrol received information that a hotel on Tilak Road was operating beyond permitted hours. A police team reached the spot and found Salve involved in a heated argument with a woman.

During inquiries, officers learned that the accused had allegedly recorded a video of the woman on his mobile phone, leading to a confrontation. When police attempted to intervene, Salve reportedly turned aggressive and began arguing with the officers.
He was subsequently taken to Khadak Police Station for questioning. Police said he appeared heavily intoxicated, was uncooperative and had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath.
When senior officers questioned him at the police station, Salve allegedly used abusive language and challenged the police. Investigators claim he became increasingly violent, spat at officers and physically attacked personnel who tried to restrain him.
According to the complaint, the accused grabbed a police constable by the collar, twisted his arm and kicked him, causing injuries. He then allegedly assaulted several officers, including senior personnel, during a scuffle inside the station.
Police further alleged that Salve issued serious threats during the altercation, claiming that he had previously faced an attempted murder case and warning officers of dire consequences. He allegedly threatened to return and attack senior officials.
The accused was eventually overpowered and taken to Sassoon Hospital for medical examination. Doctors reportedly confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol, while blood samples were preserved for further analysis.
The injured police constable also underwent medical treatment. Authorities stated that the accused obstructed public servants from discharging their duties and assaulted officers while they were performing official responsibilities.
A criminal case has been registered against Salve under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act and the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.
Senior Police Inspector Shashikant Chavan said the accused has a prior criminal record, including a case registered at Rajgad Police Station for allegedly attacking a police officer with a chair. He added that a court has remanded Salve to three days of police custody, and further investigation is underway.
Police are now examining the accused's criminal history and all circumstances related to the incident as part of the ongoing probe.
