New Delhi, Jun 7: The price of domestic LPG cylinders has been increased by Rs 29 per cylinder, marking the second hike in the last three months amid continued pressure on global energy supplies due to tensions in West Asia.

With the latest revision, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen from Rs 913 to Rs 942. The revised rates came into effect on Sunday.

The increase follows an earlier hike of Rs 60 per cylinder in March, when global energy prices surged following heightened tensions involving the United States and Iran.

According to industry sources, the latest revision comes as oil marketing companies continue to face losses on the sale of subsidised cooking gas. Despite recent increases in fuel prices, including petrol, diesel, aviation turbine fuel, commercial LPG and domestic LPG, companies are still incurring significant losses due to constrained global supply conditions.

Sources said state-run oil marketing companies were losing around Rs 703 on every domestic LPG cylinder sold before the latest price revision. The current hike is expected to partially offset those losses.

Commercial LPG cylinders used by hotels, restaurants and other businesses have also witnessed substantial increases in recent months.

On Jun 1, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder was raised by Rs 42, taking the cost to Rs 3,113. Prior to that, commercial LPG prices had been increased by Rs 1,000 in May, Rs 195.50 in April and Rs 114.50 in March.

The latest increase is part of a broader trend of fuel price revisions driven by volatility in international energy markets and supply concerns linked to geopolitical developments in West Asia.
