Udupi, Jun 7: Four students were injured and hospitalized after an unidentified object exploded when they set fire to a pile of dry garbage at the government higher primary school in Kukkuje.
Following the incident, the school's headmaster, Dayananda Naik, was suspended for dereliction of duty.

The suspension order was issued by the deputy director (administration) of the department of school education, Udupi district, based on the strict instructions of the zilla panchayat chief executive officer.
