Panaji, Jun 7: The Congress will launch a major political and organisational campaign across Goa from June 18, coinciding with Goa Revolution Day, as part of its efforts to strengthen the party and prepare for future electoral battles in the state.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by AICC Goa in-charge Manikrao Thakare, attended by senior state and national party leaders.

Addressing a press conference, Thakare said the historic occasion of ‘Kranti Din’ would mark the beginning of the party’s future strategy, organisational restructuring and intensified campaign against the BJP government.

“All internal discussions and differences within the party have been amicably resolved. The Congress is united, focused and committed to strengthening the organisation across Goa,” he said.

Thakare announced that the reconstitution of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee executive and other organisational bodies would be carried out shortly as part of a comprehensive restructuring exercise.

He said extensive discussions were held on the party’s future roadmap, expansion of the organisation and preparations for upcoming political challenges.

“The party will launch a series of programmes to highlight public issues and expose the failures of the BJP government,” he added.

The meeting was attended by AICC co-in-charge Dr Anjali Nimbalkar, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao and working presidents M.K. Shaikh, Altone D’Costa and Carlos Alvares Ferreira, among others.

Chodankar said the Congress would organise a convention to energise grassroots workers and further strengthen the party organisation.

“The Congress is committed to making Goa free from misgovernance, corruption and anti-people policies,” he said, urging party leaders and workers to intensify their outreach among the public.
