E Ahamed's Relative Stabbed


New Delhi, Mar 16 (IANS): A 42-year-old relative of Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed was stabbed here by unidentified motorcyle-borne mobile phone snatchers, police said Thursday.

Ajmal Edappagath, a Supreme Court lawyer, was stabbed by two unidentified bikers around 10.15 p.m. Wednesday on K.G. Marg near Max Mueller Bhavan.

Ajmal, who hails from Kerala's Kannur, was walking towards his home near the Patiala House complex from a gym near Max Mueller Bhavan when the accused waylaid him and snatched his iPhone.

When he attempted to resist, he was stabbed by the men.

"A case has been registered against the culprits and hunt is on to nab them," said a senior police official.

He was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where he underwent surgery.

According to doctors, his vital organs are safe.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullapally Ramachandran and Ahamed visited Ajmal at the hospital.
