Mangaluru: Three held in two NDPS cases; MDMA, cash and mobile phones seized

Mangaluru, June 9: Mangaluru South police have arrested three persons in connection with two separate cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, including the seizure of MDMA, cash, mobile phones and other materials during a raid in the city.

In the first case, registered as Crime No. 122/2026 under Sections 8(c) and 22(c) of the NDPS Act, police arrested Janan Jagannath, 29, son of Jagannath and a resident of Silver Gate, Kulashekar, and Pareekshith, 33, son of late Jayaram Shetty and a resident of Bolara, Mangaluru.

According to police, acting on credible information that the duo were attempting to sell the prohibited narcotic substance MDMA to the public, personnel of Mangaluru South police station conducted a raid in the Goods Shed area on June 8 and apprehended the suspects.

During the operation, police seized 11.68 grams of MDMA, Rs 1,110 in cash, three mobile phones and a weighing scale from their possession.

Meanwhile, in a separate case registered as Crime No. 116/2026 under Sections 8(c) and 22(c) of the NDPS Act, police arrested Sushan Poojary, 27, son of Lohithashwa and a resident near Nalanda School on Car Street in Mangaluru.

Police said the case was registered at Mangaluru South police station on June 6. During the course of the investigation, police had earlier arrested another accused, Pranam Kotiyan, and produced him before the court, which subsequently remanded him to judicial custody.

Continuing the probe, officers traced and arrested Sushan Poojary on June 9 for his alleged involvement in the case. He was later produced before the court.

Police said all the accused have been produced before the court, and efforts would be made to secure their custody to facilitate detailed interrogation and carry out a comprehensive investigation into the cases.
