Kasargod: Two killed in separate train accidents near Manjeshwar railway station

Kasargod, Jun 10: Two persons lost their lives in separate train-related accidents that occurred near the Manjeshwar railway station on Tuesday night.

The deceased have been identified as Umesh (39), a native of Mogral Puthur who was residing in Manjeshwar, and Manish (19) of Keertheshwara, Manjeshwar.

Umesh's body was found on the railway track at around 7 pm. Preliminary reports indicate that he was returning home from work when he was hit by a goods train.

In a separate incident, the body of Manish was found on the railway track at around 9 pm, shortly after the first accident. He was also reportedly returning home from work when the mishap occurred. Manish was employed in the fabrication sector.

The bodies of both victims have been shifted to the mortuary of the Mangalpady Taluk Hospital.

Manjeshwar police conducted a spot mahazar and have registered cases in connection with the incidents. Further investigation is underway.
