Srinivas University, Institute of Aviation Studies organises Blood Donation Camp

Mangaluru, Jun 11: The Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, organized a Blood Donation Camp on June 10th at the Aviation Campus, Hampankatta, with the objective of promoting voluntary blood donation and creating awareness about the importance of donating blood to save lives. The programme commenced with a prayer. This was followed by a welcome address delivered by Nishitha G Shetty, a student of the Institute of Aviation Studies, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries and participants.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Pavitra Kumari, dean, Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University. The camp was supervised by Dr Madhukara, medical officer, and Savitha K S, technical supervisor, along with the medical team of Srinivas University. The dedicated support and cooperation of the SWO officer, heads of departments, faculty members, volunteers, and donors ensured the successful conduct of the programme, making it a meaningful and impactful social service initiative.

The camp served as a platform to encourage students and faculty members to participate in a humanitarian cause and contribute towards the healthcare needs of society. The blood donation drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. A total of 70 individuals registered for blood donation. The pre-donation process included registration, haemoglobin level checks, blood pressure monitoring, and a general assessment of each donor's fitness, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.

The collected blood units were carefully preserved and transported to Srinivas Hospital, Mukka, where they will be used to support patients in urgent need of blood transfusions. The initiative not only contributed to a life-saving cause but also served as an educational experience for participants, reinforcing the values of empathy, social responsibility, and community service.

The programme was compered by Sanvi Mahendran, a student of the Institute of Aviation Studies, who efficiently coordinated the proceedings and ensured the smooth conduct of the event. The vote of thanks was proposed by B U Preksha, a student of the Institute of Aviation Studies, who expressed her sincere gratitude to the dignitaries, organizers, participants, and everyone who contributed to the success of the programme.

The programme concluded with the college anthem, fostering a sense of unity and pride among the participants. The event ended on a positive and uplifting note, with participants expressing a strong sense of satisfaction and pride. It reflected the university's commitment to human welfare and social responsibility while inspiring a spirit of compassion, service and collective responsibility among all those present.
