Mangaluru, Jun 11: Mount Carmel Central School, conducted the parent orientation programme for the parents of grades V–VII on June 11 in the school auditorium, strengthening the partnership between home and school in fostering students' academic and personal growth.

The programme commenced with a prayer song led by the school choir, followed by a vibrant welcome dance by the students. teacher Purnima Bolar welcomed the gathering and introduced the keynote speaker, Verina Joshna, counsellor and life skills facilitator, Mangaluru.

Addressing the gathering, principal Sr Melissa emphasized the school's commitment to providing a nurturing environment that promotes academic achievement, character formation, and the overall well-being of students. She encouraged parents and teachers to work together in shaping future-ready learners equipped with values and life skills.

A significant highlight of the programme was the keynote address delivered by Verina Joshna on the topic, ‘The impact of excessive online gaming on students, and parental responsibility’. Drawing upon her expertise in clinical and counselling psychology, she provided valuable insights into the psychological, social, and academic implications of excessive online gaming. She also offered practical guidelines for parents to help children develop healthy digital habits, maintain emotional balance, and utilize technology responsibly.

The programme also included the introduction of class teachers, academic and wellness guidelines by Tr Philomena, an overview of evaluation criteria by Tr Ilona, informative sessions on Kaushal Bodh by Tr Leena, and computational thinking and artificial intelligence by Tr Sunitha Singh, thereby helping parents gain a better understanding of the curriculum and emerging CBSE initiatives.

The Parent-Teacher Executive Committee (PTEC) election was conducted under the guidance of administrator Sr Carissima. The election encouraged active parental participation in school affairs and strengthened the collaborative bond between parents and the institution.

The programme concluded with a parent interaction session, providing an open forum for parents to seek clarifications, offer suggestions, and engage in constructive dialogue with the school management and faculty members. Tr Reema proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the programme, while Tr Ananya compered the event smoothly.

The orientation programme served as a meaningful beginning to the academic year, reinforcing the shared responsibility of parents and educators in nurturing confident, responsible, and well-rounded individuals.
