Udupi: Students of SMVITM develop smart e-challan and emergency ambulance service system

Media Release

Udupi, Jun 13: A team of final-year students from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, comprising Amrutha Suvarna, Nireeksha Naresh, Sheetal Karan, and Poojitha, under the guidance of Dr Vighnesh Shenoy, developed an innovative IoT-based Smart Emergency Response System.

The project aims to reduce ambulance delays caused by traffic congestion by detecting ambulances in real time, alerting nearby vehicles through warning buzzers, and identifying vehicles that fail to provide a way. Such vehicles are automatically monitored using QR code or license plate scanning and issued e-challan notifications.

The system also assists ambulances by identifying the nearest hospital with available beds, ensuring faster emergency response and improved patient care.
