Kolkata, Jun 14: Police in West Bengal's Bankura district have arrested former Trinamool Congress leader Rezaul Khan following allegations that he assaulted a BJP worker, molested the worker's wife and threatened the family with firearms.
According to police officials, the arrest was made after a written complaint was lodged by the BJP worker, who accused Khan of leading an attack on his residence.
A senior police officer said personnel from Indpur Police Station arrested Khan on Saturday night and produced him before the Khatra Sub-Divisional Court on Sunday. The court subsequently remanded him to three days of police custody for further investigation.

The complainant alleged that Khan, who previously served as the Trinamool Congress president of Indpur block, entered his residence along with several associates and physically assaulted him. The complaint further stated that the accused allegedly molested the complainant's wife, vandalised household property and threatened to kill family members by brandishing firearms.
According to the complainant, tensions between the two sides had existed for some time. He claimed that prior to the recent Assembly elections, he had raised allegations of corruption against Khan, which allegedly led to hostility from the former Trinamool leader.
The complaint also alleged that the attack occurred a few days before the Assembly polls and was linked to those accusations.
Following the filing of the complaint, police initiated an investigation and proceeded with Khan's arrest.
Khan did not comment on the allegations after his arrest.
However, his counsel, Chanchal Roy, maintained that the case was politically motivated. Speaking to reporters, Roy said the complaint had been filed after the change in the state's political situation and argued that the allegations were aimed at targeting his client.
He said a bail application had been submitted before the court, but the plea was rejected, leading to Khan being remanded to police custody for three days.
The case is currently under investigation, and police are expected to question the accused and examine the allegations made in the complaint as part of the ongoing probe.
Key figures in the case include Rezaul Khan and advocate Chanchal Roy.
