Jaipur, Jun 15: Jaipur Police on Sunday granted permission to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to hold a protest in the Rajasthan capital on Monday, reversing its earlier decision to deny approval on law-and-order grounds.
The permission, however, comes with several conditions, including a cap of 800 participants, a ban on rallies and DJs, and strict instructions to avoid disruption to traffic and public movement.
According to the permission order, the protest will be allowed between 3 pm and 7 pm and must be conducted in a peaceful, disciplined and culturally appropriate manner.

“The programme should be completely decorous and should keep Indian culture in mind. It should be limited and restrained so that traffic and public movement are not disrupted and unnecessary crowding is avoided,” one of the conditions stated.
Police have also directed organisers to comply with the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, warning that violations could attract penalties. Authorities said the permission could be withdrawn if complaints are received from students or members of the public.
Participants have been prohibited from carrying sticks, batons or any kind of weapons during the event.
The order further stated that no objectionable slogans, speeches or materials should be used or distributed, and no remarks should target any particular community. Organisers have been instructed to maintain communal harmony and ensure timely conduct of the programme.
The organisers have also been asked to make their own security arrangements and ensure compliance with laws relating to smoking, public conduct and traffic regulations.
Apart from CJP president Abhijeet Dipke, noted climate activist Sonam Wangchuk is expected to attend the demonstration.
Jaipur Police had initially rejected the request on Saturday, citing concerns over law and order. In its communication to the organisers, police said permission could not be granted based on the findings of its assessment.
Following the rejection, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka had announced that party members would approach the Jaipur Police Commissionerate carrying the national flag and a copy of the Constitution to seek fresh permission.
After approval was granted, programme convenor Deepak Baliyan said the organisation believes in democratic values and would ensure complete compliance with all conditions imposed by the administration.
Ranka said the protest aims to draw attention to issues affecting youth, students, parents and ordinary citizens, including rising unemployment, alleged irregularities in the education system, recruitment examination paper leaks and other matters of public concern.
Police said adequate arrangements would be made to maintain law and order during the protest.
