Udupi, Jun 15: Success in academic life is not measured solely by examination results, students must also imbibe human values in their lives, said Fr Anil D’Souza, parish priest of St Francis Xavier Church, Udyavara.

Fr Anil D’Souza speaking after felicitating 15 students who had achieved outstanding results in the PUC and SSLC examinations at a merit award programme organized by the Catholic Sabha Udyavara Unit, remarked that receiving a felicitation for achievement is not the end of one’s journey, but rather an opportunity for further growth and progress.

Fr Anil D’Souza said that God performs miracles through people and that the hard work and sacrifices of elders play a significant role behind every student’s achievement. He noted that the honour received by the awardees should not be limited to a few students but should inspire every student to strive for excellence. He added that organizations which recognize and honour achievers every year serve as a source of motivation for all students.

The programme was presided over and welcomed by Steven Lewis, president of the Catholic Sabha Udyavar unit. Secretary Usha Lavina Lobo proposed the vote of thanks. Anand Raj Fernandes read out the names of the achievers, and Austin Cardoza compered the programme.

Among those present on the dais were assistant parish priest Fr Santosh Almeida, Parish Pastoral Council vice-president Melvin Noronha, secretary Wilfred D’Souza, and immediate past president Irine Pereira.
