Mangaluru: Organizations appeal for P V Mohan’s election to Karnataka Legislative Council

Mangaluru, Jun 15: Various people's organizations from Dakshina Kannada district have appealed to all members of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly to elect P V Mohan to the Karnataka Legislative Council with a large majority in the election scheduled on June 18.

Speaking at a press conference held at the press club in Mangaluru, representative’s highlighted P V Mohan’s more than four-decade association with people’s movements in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district. They said his contribution towards social justice, protection of marginalized communities, students and youth has been significant.

SC/ST organizations’ federation president Lolaksha stated that selecting P V Mohan as the candidate for the Legislative Council was a positive decision, describing him as a simple and principled leader in public life. He also congratulated the senior leaders involved in the decision.

The representatives expressed confidence that P V Mohan’s entry into the Legislative Council would mark a new chapter in Dakshina Kannada’s political landscape by promoting people-centric politics beyond caste and community divisions.

They further said that P V Mohan could become a strong voice in the council for the concerns of marginalized communities, students and youth, especially from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

AHINDA vice-president B A M Hanif said that P V Mohan has maintained close relations with different communities and his election could contribute towards policies supporting disadvantaged sections of society.

The press conference was attended by social activists and representatives including Renni D’Souza, Mohanangayya Swami, Kamala, Anil Kumar, Padmanabha and Ashok Bhat.
