Ranchi, Jun 16: Three police personnel, including a police station officer-in-charge, have been suspended following the alleged suicide of a man who accused police officials of harassment in a note recovered after his death in Jharkhand's Ranchi district.
The deceased, identified as Pradhan Yadav (44), a resident of the DT Khatal area under the jurisdiction of Dhurwa Police Station, allegedly died by suicide on Monday.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan said jamadar Lal Mohar Pandey and Jitendra Tudu were suspended with immediate effect, while a recommendation had been sent to the Zonal Inspector General for the suspension of officer-in-charge Arun Mahatha.

“Given the gravity of the situation, an investigation team led by the Hatia DSP has been constituted, and further action will be taken after submission of the inquiry report,” the SSP said.
According to police, Yadav had lodged a complaint at the police station on June 5 alleging that he had been assaulted by neighbours following a dispute.
However, in a five-page suicide note, Yadav allegedly accused investigating officer Lal Mohan Pandey and associate Jitendra Tudu of pressuring him to settle the matter instead of taking action against the accused persons.
The note further alleged that the officials had registered an FIR against him and members of his family rather than proceeding against those he had named in his complaint.
Neeraj Kumar said the victim had alleged mental harassment by the police personnel.
Based on a complaint lodged by Yadav’s wife, Savita Devi, police have registered an FIR against 13 named persons in connection with the case.
Police said the accused are currently absconding and efforts are underway to trace and arrest them.
Officials identified Jitendra Yadav as the main accused in the case.
The investigation team is expected to examine the allegations contained in the suicide note, the handling of the original complaint and the role of the suspended police personnel.
Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry, police said.
