President Murmu begins five-day visit to MP, Odisha

New Delhi, Jun 18: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday began a five-day visit to Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, during which she will participate in a series of official, cultural and public welfare programmes.

On the first day of her visit, the President will attend a programme on the empowerment of tribal communities through spiritual awakening at Betul in Madhya Pradesh. She will arrive in Indore before travelling to Betul to take part in an event organised by the Brahma Kumaris.

Later in the day, President Murmu is scheduled to visit the Omkareshwar Temple and participate in the evening aarti.

On June 19, she will attend an event marking International Sickle Cell Anaemia Day, focusing on awareness and efforts to combat the disease, which disproportionately affects tribal populations.

As part of her tour, the President will also participate in International Yoga Day celebrations in Jabalpur on June 21. She is slated to attend the 36th convocation ceremony of Rani Durgavati University as the Chief Guest.

President Murmu will also visit Kuno National Park during her stay in Madhya Pradesh before returning to New Delhi.

Meanwhile, authorities in Betul have tightened security arrangements ahead of the President's visit. District Collector Dr Saurabh Sanjay Sonawane has imposed restrictions including a ban on drone operations and curbs on the movement of heavy vehicles in the area.
