New Delhi, Jun 18: A 54-year-old dentist was arrested for allegedly killing his house help by repeatedly assaulting her with a bat and later stabbing her at his residence in the upscale Kailash Hills area of south Delhi, police said.

The accused has been identified as Dr Manish Gupta, who runs a dental clinic near his residence in Mount Kailash. The victim, identified as 45-year-old Meena, had reportedly been working at his house for the past 10 years.

According to police, the incident came to light on Tuesday morning when Amar Colony police station received a call from a neighbour reporting that a woman's body was lying on the rooftop of an adjacent building.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Hemant Tiwari said information regarding the murder was received at around 11.36 am. The caller informed police that the body of a woman, soaked in blood, was lying near the accused's residence in Mount Kailash.

A police team rushed to the spot and found the doctor sitting near the body. During initial questioning, he allegedly confessed to attacking the woman with a bat before stabbing her with a knife.

Police immediately took Gupta into custody and launched an investigation into the case.

Officials said preliminary inquiries revealed that Meena had been employed at the doctor's residence for nearly a decade. Investigators are examining claims made by the accused that he suspected the woman of attempting to steal from him.

Police said the doctor's statements are being verified and the exact motive behind the killing is yet to be established. Further investigation is underway.

Cant believe. My God,in India many employers try to harass their workers ,either by beating or other methods. No kindness ,or humanity. But this is too much and hard.To kill a elderly person beating and attacking with knife? That too a medical person? If she wanted to steal she would have done in last 10years ?There was something else here I am sure. However she is dead now.Keeping the body on Terrasse?Atleast respect a dead person .Should have informed Police atleast.May her soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathies to her family.Arrest him ad throw him in jail .He should pay to her family a good amount of compansation.Just imagine a worker goes to work and comes back a body with knife attack.RIP
