Bantakal Engineering College students develop AI-driven detection of urinary tract infections

Media Release

Udupi, Jun 19: Students Pallavi Rathod, Pooja, Deeksha, and Anushvitha from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, developed an innovative AI-based system for the early detection and diagnosis of Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs).

Under the guidance of Dr Ganesha Prasad, the team utilized a large urinalysis dataset containing over 80,000 patient records to train advanced machine learning and deep learning models. The system accurately predicts the likelihood of a UTI and is integrated with an intelligent chatbot that provides personalized health guidance and preventive recommendations.

This solution aims to make UTI screening faster, more accessible, and beneficial for people in rural and resource-limited areas.
