St Aloysius College Higher Primary School celebrates feast of patron, St Aloysius Gonzaga

Mangaluru, Jun 21: St Aloysius College Higher Primary School observed the feast of our patron, St Aloysius Gonzaga, on June 20 with great devotion and enthusiasm.

To mark the beginning of the celebrations, an Eucharistic celebration was held at the school auditorium on June 19. The main celebrant of the Mass was Fr Roydon Misquith, SJ. The Mass was attended by the Catholic students and staff of St Aloysius College Higher Primary School.

On June 20, the students assembled in the school auditorium for a cultural programme organised by the students of grade VI.

The chief guest for the day was Joseph D'Silva, a proud alumnus of the institution. He began his career as an executive accountant at Bangalore Club and later joined Vijaya Bank, where he served at various places across India. After a distinguished banking career spanning three decades, he retired as senior branch manager in 2010.

The programme commenced with a prayer song by the students. The gathering was welcomed by Shreyansh of grade VI.

The significance of the day was explained by Deeksha and Diana of grade VI, who highlighted the life of St Aloysius Gonzaga and the values he embodied.

Soon after, a skit depicting the life of St Aloysius Gonzaga was enacted by the students and narrated by Nireeksha. This was followed by a melodious feast day greeting song presented by the students.

On the occasion of the feast of St Aloysius Gonzaga, a few competitions were conducted for the students. The winners were felicitated by the chief guest, Joseph D'Silva, the headmistress, Jositta Noronha and the assistant headmaster, Liya D'Souza.

The chief guest was honoured by the headmistress and the assistant headmaster for his remarkable achievements and his generosity towards the school through the scholarships he offers annually to deserving students.

In his message, D'Silva appreciated the quality education imparted by the Jesuit priests and encouraged the students to make wise decisions regarding their future. He also stressed the importance of valuing time and using it wisely.

No celebration is complete without a dance performance. The students of grade VI enthralled the audience with their energetic dance and set the stage ablaze with their enthusiasm.

The programme was efficiently compered by Rishik, Aryaan Sheikh, Shreyansh, Karishma, Greeshma and Vaishnavi, who conducted the proceedings with confidence and enthusiasm. The vote of thanks was proposed by Keerthi and Rajani, who expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event.

The programme concluded with the singing of the institutional anthem, marking the end of the celebration on a solemn and memorable note.

After the programme, the students were served a delicious meal adding joy and warmth to the celebration.
