Udupi: Catholic Sabha requests B K Hariprasad to give Ivan D'Souza ministerial berth

Media Release

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 23: A petition was submitted to the new KPCC president B K Hariprasad in Mangaluru on Tuesday, June 22 by the Catholic Sabha Mangaluru and Udupi region demanding that Legislative Council member Ivan D'Souza be given a ministerial berth.

Ivan D'Souza, who represents the Christian community in the coastal areas, has served as a two-time member of the Legislative Council, the Council's Chief Whip, and has held various responsibilities in the Christian Development Corporation. The contribution of the Christian community to the victory of the Congress party is immense, and the Christian community supported the Congress party in the elections in 22 districts of the state, the delegates explained in the petition.

"Every time the community is given high positions, they are deprived of opportunities, this time D K Shivakumar should do the work of giving equal opportunities to all communities. Through this, Ivan D'Souza should be appointed as a minister or as the chairman of the Legislative Council. If he is given a ministerial position, it will be further helpful for the progress of the party in the coming days," they opined in the petition. In this regard, the petition mentions that he should work to provide justice to the Christian community as the party president.

The delegation included Catholic Sabha Mangalore region president Santosh D'Souza, vice-president Steven Rodrigues, former president Stany Lobo, Udupi region president Melvin Aranha Shirva, former presidents Walter Cyril Pinto, Valerian Fernandes and others.
