Doha, Jun 27: The mortal remains of eight Indian nationals who lost their lives in the Ras Laffan industrial accident in Qatar have been repatriated to India on June 26, the Indian Embassy in Doha said on Saturday.

The embassy had earlier repatriated the remains of four other victims on June 25, completing the return of all 12 deceased Indian nationals.

In a post on X, the Embassy of India in Doha thanked Qatari authorities, Indian community organisations and government authorities in India for their support and coordination during the repatriation process.

“Embassy and officials also met some of the injured Indian nationals in Al Khor. The injured have received appropriate medical attention,” the embassy said, adding that it appreciated the support extended by Qatari authorities and employer company representatives.

Earlier, the embassy had informed that the first batch of four mortal remains was being sent to India and that efforts were underway to repatriate the remaining victims at the earliest.

The embassy said families of the deceased and concerned authorities had been kept informed throughout the process and that officials were also in contact with Indians injured in the accident.

The Ras Laffan incident had claimed the lives of 12 Indian nationals at the industrial facility in Qatar. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had earlier said that Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani conveyed his condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the tragic loss of lives.

The incident highlighted the close ties between India and Qatar, with both countries coordinating efforts following the industrial tragedy.
