Kasargod: Snehalaya marks International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

Kasargod, Jun 27: Snehalaya De-addiction Centre, Pavoor, observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with an awareness programme highlighting the importance of prevention, treatment, and recovery.

The programme began with a welcome address by Clint Joseph, head of the clinical department. Dr Balasubramanya, medical officer and psychiatrist, presided over the function and emphasized the need for collective efforts to combat substance abuse. Br Joseph Crasta, founder and executive director, delivered the greetings address.

The event was attended by Olivia Crasta (trustee-cum-secretary), Jovial Crasta (trustee), Saritha Crasta (trustee-cum-administrator of Snehalaya De Addiction Centre), Lavita D’Souza (institutional In-charge), and Dr Chandrashekar (yoga and wellness trainer).

Residents of the centre presented cultural programmes, showcasing their talents and recovery journey. The clinical department also organized quiz, essay writing, poem writing, and skit competitions to create awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Anand, psychiatric counsellor. The celebration reaffirmed Snehalaya's commitment to promoting a drug-free society and supporting individuals on their path to recovery.
