Tel Aviv, Jun 28: The Israeli military on Sunday said it had killed several “armed terrorists” during an operation in southern Syria a day earlier.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its soldiers carried out the operation on Saturday, June 27, in what it referred to as the “Security Zone” in southern Syria.
“Saturday, IDF soldiers eliminated several armed terrorists in the Security Zone in southern Syria,” the military said, without providing further details about the identities of those killed or the circumstances of the operation.

The Israeli army has maintained control over an area in southern Syria that it describes as a security zone since late 2024. Israel has said the presence is aimed at preventing threats against its citizens and military personnel.
The IDF has stated that its forces will remain in the area to “remove any threat to Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers”.
The development comes amid continued tensions along the Israel-Syria border, with Israeli forces closely monitoring activities in southern Syria and carrying out operations against what they describe as security threats.
Syrian authorities and other parties have previously criticised Israel’s military presence in the area, while Israel has maintained that the measures are necessary for its security.
