Ready to Broker Peace with Taliban: Sri Sri Ravi Shanker

Lucknow, Mar 19 (IANS): Art of Living (AoL) founder and spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shanker has offered his "good intentions and services" to the Pakistan government and said that he was ready to broker peace between the Pakistan government and Taliban.

Back from a trip to Pakistan, Sri Sri told IANS that during his trip to Pakistan, he "could feel the urge in the Pakistan masses to find peace and get over violence".

Moved by the successive terrorist attacks and the emotional welcome and send off he got at the AoL camps in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, the spiritual guru said he would be the happiest if any efforts by him could bring peace to the strife torn Pakistan.

"There is a lot of violence in Pakistan and people are fed up, they want to live peacefully. If I could be of any help in bringing an end to the vicious cycle of violence, I am ready to talk to the Taliban," Sri Sri said.

In fact, he added, as a spiritual guru, he was duty bound to bring peace to the world and he would leave no effort untried in doing so.

In Lucknow, for a Satsang attended by over a lakh people at the Police Lines, recalling his Pakistan trip, Sri Sri said he was overwhelmed at the response he got to his meditational techniques in Pakistan and added that at the end of it, it was all about "universal stress."

"We are all sufferers of stress, tension, violence and hatred - and small ways of easing out are all that you need," he mused while discussing his experience with the Pakistani people. "I am sure," he added, "that in times to come better sense would prevail on all who were involved in violence and that peace would prevail everywhere."

Quote "There is a lot of violence in Pakistan and people are fed up, they want to live peacefully. If I could be of any help in bringing an end to the vicious cycle of violence, I am ready to talk to the Taliban," Sri Sri said unquote

In our world of today an overwhelming majority of around the world would like to live in peace and the Pakistanis are no exception, but the questions they should ask are:
    a. Are they at peace with themselves?
    b. Peace is not available on the shelf of a supermarket, are the actions of their fellow citizens peaceful? If so what is being done by their government, the intelligentsia and the average Pakistani doing to curb violent activities that disturb peace?
    c. Law and order is a must to have peace, is there any rule of law in Pakistan?
    d. We do not understand why you (Sri Sri) have to go there, why don’t their religious leaders talk about peace, after all isn’t Islam a religion of “peace”?
    e. Till date all we have seen on TV angry people punching their fists in the air, burning effigies and flags with protestors carrying placards reading death to one country or the other? Why don’t those same people who are fed up with violence and would like live in peace would start by carrying placards and march on the streets of their cities saying “God Bless India, Israel, America etc etc”

If Pakistanis really want peace they must come up with the answers and more importantly implement them, but instead they conveniently blame all other countries in the world except themselves. Hence by shifting the blame on to everyone else is the easiest thing to do “you cannot fix something if you say it is not broken”. The ideology of hate is so embedded in the Pakistani physic “that a tooth for a tooth and an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind” and the never ending cycle of violence will never ever come to an end.

At present, evil forces are stronger both at the physical and the spiritual level.

Hence, there are attacks on leaders like Sri Narendra Modi and Sri Sri by the evils forces.

Once good forces gets upper hand, which will eventually happen, evil forces will be defeated.

I do appreciate Sri Sri’s effort and good Gesture for the sake of peace. and regarding forceful conversion, the middle path is that recognizes diversity of religion, it sees life as a testing ground, and one of the most important aspects of this testing is freedom to choose a belief system and the way a person wants to live his or her life in this world as long as he or she does not encroach upon other people's rights. If this right to choose is taken away, the meaning of testing becomes purposeless and is quite incomprehensible.

Sri Sri please dont forget Art of living center in Qatar was closed because of Pakistanis complained to the Ministry and called it as religious center. Many were arrested and deported . Sri Sri should better focus on 1.2 Billion Indians instead of lawless Pakistanis & Afghans.

The Pakistan, which was a part of Akhand Bharath, became Muslim majority due to the atrocities and forceful converion of Hindus by the Muslim invaders over a period of 1000 years.

Once converted, they were made to forget their original culture and these converts committed atrocities on Hindus during partition.

Muslims of the entire sub continent [Akhand Bharath] should remember their parent religion and leave the path of violence.

It may look absurd now, but remember my words, Sri Sri and other spirtual leaders from India will bring a change of heart in the people of this sacred land and unite the entire sub continent.
