UP Gets New Police Chief, 26 Officers Shifted


Lucknow, Mar 19 (IANS): Uttar Pradesh has got a new police chief in Ambrish Chandra Sharma. The government has also reshuffled the top police machiney in the state.

Atul Kumar has been sent to Home Guards as Director General while Sharma has been appointed the new state police chief.

A total of 26 Indian Police Service (IPS) officials have been shunted out.
These include senior superintendents and deputy inspector generals.

According to a government communique Sunday midnight, Devraj Nagar is the new head of Provincial Armed Constabulary.

Maya loyalist and former director general of police Brij Lal has been shunted to the Bhim Rao Ambedkar Police Academy (Moradabad).

S.K. Mishra has been shifted out from the Uttar Pradesh Power Corp and made head of Nagrik Suraksha.

The inspector general Moradabad, another Mayawati favourite M.K. Bashal, has been attached to the DGP headquarters.

Deputy Inspector General of Moradabad Amitabh Yash has been moved to Kanpur in the same capacity.
