Udupi, July 4: "Parents work tirelessly every day to secure a bright future for their children. However, amidst the pressures of daily life, many fail to spend quality time with them, listen to their feelings, or engage in meaningful conversations," said Dr Ryan Mathias, student counsellor at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE).

While addressing the Parent-Teacher Association meeting of the high school section at Mount Rosary School, Santhekatte, as the resource person Dr Rayan Mathias said children often turn to mobile phones, television, and social media, where they begin to mistake the relationships portrayed in reels and online content for real-life relationships, gradually becoming emotionally detached from their families.

Dr Rayan Mathias urged parents to make time for their children, emphasizing that emotional bonding and open communication are essential for their healthy growth and overall well-being.

During the programme, PTA office-bearers for the academic year 2025–26, President Irshad and vice-president Ramesh Kunder, were felicitated for their service.

School correspondent Dr Rock D'Souza congratulated the parents for their support and cooperation, which contributed to the school's outstanding academic performance, including a 100 percent pass result with several students securing distinction.

Headmistress explained the structure and functioning of the PTA and briefed parents on the school's rules and regulations.

Teachers Meena and Shobha coordinated the election of class-wise parent representatives for the current academic year. PTA secretary Vanitha presented the annual report. Students gave a creative presentation highlighting the key activities and achievements planned for the academic year 2025–26.

Teacher Nancy welcomed the gathering, Laveena compered the programme, and Magdalene proposed the vote of thanks.
