Mangaluru, Jul 4: St Theresa's School, Bendur organised a house-wise mock parliament competition for students of classes VI to X on Saturday, July 4, at the Msgr Raymond Auditorium. The event provided students with an engaging platform to experience the functioning of the Indian Parliament while gaining a deeper understanding of democratic values and parliamentary procedures.

The programme commenced with a prayer, followed by a welcome address. The competition aimed to familiarise students with the legislative process and encourage informed, constructive, and respectful debate.

The proceedings began with the ruling party introducing a bill and presenting its objectives and significance before the House. The opposition members then participated in the question hour by raising pertinent questions, voicing concerns, and offering alternative perspectives. The speaker skilfully conducted the session, maintained order and decorum, ensured adherence to parliamentary procedures, and finally placed the bill before the house for voting.

The participants impressed the audience with their confidence, eloquence, and sound understanding of parliamentary etiquette. Their well-researched arguments, logical reasoning, and active participation reflected thorough preparation and a keen appreciation of the democratic process.

The principal congratulated all the participants for their enthusiastic involvement and commended their commendable performance. The competition proved to be an enriching educational experience, fostering leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, effective communication, and respect for diverse opinions while strengthening students' awareness of the rights and responsibilities of responsible citizens.
