Mangaluru: Rosario Cathedral organises seminar for widows, widowers & single individuals

Mangaluru, Jul 6: A special seminar for widows, widowers, and single individuals was organised on Sunday, July 5, at the Rosario Conference Hall by the Commission for Pastoral Care of Migrants & Itinerants and the Commission for Marginalised Christians under the guidance of the Parish Pastoral 21 Commissions of Rosario Cathedral.

The seminar witnessed the participation of several parishioners who benefited from informative sessions focusing on various government welfare schemes, financial assistance, support for small-scale businesses, and the importance of family unity and emotional well-being.

Fr Kiran Nazareth, director of Don Bosco Counselling & Youth Centre, Shirva, addressed the gathering on the importance of emotional well-being, hope, resilience, and the vital role of family and community support in overcoming life's challenges.

Mahammad Nazeer H delivered a detailed presentation on various government welfare schemes and benefits available for widows, senior citizens, and economically weaker sections, encouraging participants to make use of these facilities.

The interactive session provided participants with an opportunity to clarify their doubts and receive practical guidance on the various schemes and support services available to them.

Rajesh Anthony, convenor of the Commission for Marginalised Christians, welcomed the gathering.

Fr Valerian D'Souza, parish priest of Rosario Cathedral, led the opening prayer. Aldrin Vaz, coordinator of the Parish Pastoral 21 Commissions, Cyril Rosario, vice president of Parish Pastoral Council, were present on the occasion.

Ida Furtado, secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, conducted games and interactive activities for the participants, which also included awareness on SIR. Jacintha D'Souza led the concluding prayer.

Wilma D'Souza, convenor of the Commission for Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerants, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the guest speakers, participants, ward gurkars, volunteers, and all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the seminar.
