Mangaluru: Srinivas Institute of Technology organises Vanamahotsav

Mangaluru, Jul 11: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Srinivas Institute of Technology (SIT), organised Vanamahotsav 2026 on Saturday, July 11 on the college campus with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and encouraging tree plantation among students and staff.

The programme was graced by Dr A Srinivas Rao, chancellor, Srinivas University and president, A Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru, who led the tree plantation drive and highlighted the importance of protecting nature through collective efforts.

The occasion was honoured by Prof A Mitra S Rao, trustee, board of governors, Srinivas University, as the chief guest, and Vijayalakshmi R Rao, trustee, board of governors, Srinivas University, as the guest of honour. They appreciated the efforts of the NSS unit in creating environmental awareness and motivated the students to actively participate in conservation initiatives.

The programme was held under the guidance of Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D, principal, Srinivas Institute of Technology. Several saplings were planted across the campus by the dignitaries, faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students, reaffirming their commitment to building a greener and more sustainable environment.

The programme was compered by P Rakesh Mallya, NSS coordinator, who welcomed the gathering and ensured the smooth conduct of the event. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, volunteers, and students for making Vanamahotsav 2026 a meaningful and successful environmental initiative.
