Jaipur, Jul 12: Rajasthan Police's Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) carried out a large-scale, coordinated operation across seven districts, resulting in the arrest of eight alleged drug traffickers and the seizure of substantial quantities of narcotics, including poppy husk, heroin (chitta), cannabis (ganja) and the synthetic drug MD. Authorities also confiscated four vehicles — one car and three motorcycles — suspected to have been used in transporting illegal drugs.
The statewide enforcement drive was conducted under the supervision of Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma and Additional Director General of Police Dinesh MN, with ANTF teams working jointly with district police units.
Inspector General of Police (ANTF) Vikas Kumar said the simultaneous raids had significantly disrupted drug distribution networks operating across Rajasthan and reflected the police department's continued commitment to eliminating narcotics from the state.
In Sri Ganganagar district, police arrested Raj Singh (28), a resident of Punjab's Fazilka district, who allegedly attempted to evade capture by hiding in nearby bushes close to Suratgarh. Officers recovered 40 grams of heroin (chitta) from his possession.
In Pali district, officers intercepted a car after a high-speed pursuit in the Khairwa-Aichiya region. The vehicle was found carrying 45.7 kg of poppy husk, leading to the arrest of Subhash Siyak (24), a resident of Jodhpur district. The car used in the alleged smuggling operation was also seized.
In Udaipur, two accused — Prakash (24) from Bhilwara and Virendra Singh (22) from Udaipur — were apprehended after police recovered 8.3 kg of cannabis concealed inside a yellow plastic sack. Two motorcycles allegedly used in the operation were also confiscated.
In Deeg district, Rajveer Singh alias Raju (50), a resident of Bharatpur district, was arrested while allegedly transporting a narcotics consignment. Police seized 2.015 kg of cannabis along with his motorcycle.
In Barmer, acting on intelligence inputs, police recovered 5.5 kg of poppy husk hidden in an agricultural field in Galaberi village. The suspect escaped before the raid, and a case has been registered while efforts are continuing to locate and arrest him.
In Hanumangarh, Ramesh Kumar (37) was taken into custody after he allegedly tried to flee from a police checkpoint. Officers recovered 6.27 grams of heroin (chitta) during the search.
In Bikaner, police arrested Ashok Kumar (43) and Surendra (19) near the Jodhpur-Ganganagar Bypass after recovering 9.54 grams of the synthetic drug MD packed in two sachets.
IGP Vikas Kumar urged citizens to actively support the campaign against narcotics by sharing information with the ANTF Control Room on 0141-2502877 or through WhatsApp at 9261225056. He assured that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential.
He added that the ANTF will continue to intensify statewide operations against drug trafficking as part of the Rajasthan Police's ongoing mission to build a drug-free state.
