New Delhi, Jul 12: Five minor boys have been detained for allegedly stabbing a 34-year-old man to death following an altercation in northwest Delhi's Ashok Vihar, police said on Sunday.
The deceased, identified as Bansi Lal, was employed at a CCTV equipment shop in Old Delhi's Lala Lajpat Rai Market.
According to police, Bansi Lal was found unconscious with multiple stab injuries to his chest, abdomen and limbs near Prem Bari Pul towards the Keshav Puram area. He was taken to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred near a muddy stretch alongside a canal. Police said the victim had gone to the area when mud allegedly splashed onto a group of juveniles, leading to an argument that quickly escalated into violence.
During the confrontation, one of the minors allegedly attacked Bansi Lal with a knife, repeatedly stabbing him, while the others also assaulted him before fleeing the spot.
A case of murder has been registered, and police used CCTV footage along with local intelligence to identify and detain the five juveniles. The knife allegedly used in the crime has also been recovered.
The incident comes weeks after another fatal stabbing involving juveniles in Delhi. On June 23, two minors were detained for allegedly killing a 17-year-old boy, identified as Lucky Kumar, in Seelampur following a dispute, while police continued the search for a third accused.
In a separate case reported on July 4, a 20-year-old man, Toheed, was stabbed to death inside a DDA park in northeast Delhi's New Usmanpur. Police later arrested three accused and recovered the weapon allegedly used in the murder.
