Pakistan, Jul 15: A letter circulating widely on social media claiming that Balochistan has declared independence from Pakistan has gone viral, but there has been no official confirmation of the claims from Pakistani authorities or any internationally recognised body.

Issued in the name of the "Republic of Balochistan", the statement claims that the region has established an independent government, adopted a national flag and anthem, introduced its own currency called the "Balochi Falus", and now exercises control over around 85 per cent of its territory.

The letter also urges the international community to recognise Balochistan as an independent nation.

According to the document, the new administration has taken control of the region's mineral wealth, including gold and copper mines, more than 150 active gas fields and over 1,200 operational coal mines.

The statement further alleges that several members of Pakistan's security agencies have resigned and joined the Baloch side.

It also claims that Balochistan is being administered through its own security and defence forces, asserting that a force of around 500,000 personnel comprising military, naval, air force and civil administration units is prepared to drive out Pakistani forces by the end of 2026.

Despite the widespread circulation of the letter online, there has been no official response from the Pakistan government regarding its contents. The claims made in the document remain unverified, and no independent evidence has emerged to substantiate the assertions of independence or territorial control.
