The accused, identified as Awadesh Rai, was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Mapusa on Tuesday and remanded to three days of police custody for further investigation.

According to the survivor's complaint, she travelled to Goa on July 10 after Rai allegedly offered her a job at a spa operating in the Calangute-Candolim coastal belt.

She alleged that on the night of her arrival, the accused took her to a hotel room, where he sexually assaulted her, wrongfully confined her and threatened to kill her if she attempted to escape or report the incident.
