Mount Carmel Central School celebrates school feast & 158th Foundation Day of Apostolic Carmel

Mangaluru, Jul 16: Mount Carmel Central School, celebrated the school feast, the Feast of Mary, Mother of Mount Carmel, and the 158th Foundation Day of the Apostolic Carmel with great devotion, joy, and enthusiasm on July 15 in the school auditorium.

With the theme 'Under Mother's Mantle, We Grow Together,' the programme reflected the values of faith, unity, compassion, and love, inspiring everyone to seek Mother Mary's guidance and protection as we journey together in harmony.

The celebration was gracefully hosted by the students of grade IX C, D and E, who served as the hosts of the event. The programme was confidently compered by Trisha, Pranav, Riyon, Venetia, Sudhamshu, and Ashni, whose eloquence and coordination added warmth and dignity to the occasion.

The celebration commenced with a soulful prayer service seeking God's blessings through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mount Carmel, followed by a graceful welcome dance presented by the students. Andrea and Dianne extended a heartfelt welcome to the gathering, warmly greeting the chief guest, Dr Sr Clare AC, retd principal of St Ann's College of Education, Mangaluru, along with the principal, sisters, postulants, staff and students.

The cultural programme featured a melodious choir presentation and a meaningful dance drama depicting the significance of the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the vision of St Simon Stock, and the dedicated mission of the Apostolic Carmel Sisters in serving society through education and compassion. The dance drama was beautifully narrated by Riya, Palak, and Sanidhya, guiding the audience through the story with clarity and expression.

The chief guest, Dr Sr Clare AC, inspired the audience with an enlightening address. She described Mother Mary as an ‘ocean of qualities,’ highlighting her as a model of faith and virtue. She spoke about the importance of prayer and encouraged everyone to listen to their inner voice while seeking God's guidance. She also emphasized Mother Mary's sensitivity to the needs of others, her compassionate nature, and her remarkable ability to listen, inspiring everyone to emulate these virtues in their daily lives.

Sr Clare also reflected on how Mother Veronica, the foundress of the Apostolic Carmel, exemplified these same virtues through her life and mission. She highlighted that Mother Veronica walked in the footsteps of Mother Mary, embracing a life of prayer, humility, compassion, attentive listening, and loving service, inspiring others to follow her example.

Principal Sr Melissa, in her address, narrated an inspiring story that reminded everyone that when we trust in God, He always finds a way to care for us, often through the kindness and generosity of others. As part of the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the principal explained the acronym Carmel, highlighting the values it represents: Care for everyone and God's creation, acceptance of God's will with trust, respect and reverence for God, mercy by showing kindness, Endurance during difficulties, and love in words and actions.

The winners of the competitions conducted during the month of June and those organised on the occasion of the school feast were felicitated by the chief guest. The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Mihika and Reema, expressing sincere gratitude to the chief guest, the principal, the staff, the students, and all those who contributed to the success of the celebration.

The event concluded on a prayerful note with all, singing the Mother of Carmel Hymn, leaving everyone inspired by the spirit of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the rich legacy of the Apostolic Carmel.
The celebration was a memorable expression of unity, devotion, and gratitude, reaffirming the school's commitment to nurturing young minds rooted in faith, excellence, and compassionate service.

The celebrations continued into the evening with a joyful staff get-together. Tr Jenitha led the prayer. Principal Sr Melissa warmly welcomed and greeted the staff, while administrator Sr Carissima inspired everyone with a meaningful message, encouraging them to continue their teaching mission with dedication and unity, taking inspiration from the patroness of the school, Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The staff then enjoyed a few fun-filled games conducted by Tr Neetha, which brought laughter, excitement, and cheerful participation, fostering fellowship and camaraderie. The memorable evening concluded with refreshments, bringing the school feast celebrations to a joyful and fitting close.
