Raipur, Jul 19: A 50-year-old man was found hanging after allegedly murdering his wife, son and two daughters at his residence in Raipur, police said on Saturday.
The incident is believed to have taken place on Thursday at Sanjay Nagar, where Sajid Ali alias Sajju lived with his family.
According to police, Sajid allegedly killed his wife, Rabia Bano, 45, son Irshad Ali, 20, and daughters Shahida Begum, 15, and Irshaba Parveen, 12, before taking his own life by hanging. The house remained locked from Thursday.
Neighbours and relatives alerted the police on Friday after growing suspicious. Police broke open the door and found all five bodies inside the house.
Assistant Police Commissioner Navneet Patil said the motive behind the alleged murders is under investigation. No suicide note was found at the scene, and police are examining Sajid's mobile phone to gather further leads.
