New Delhi, Mar 21 (IANS): The Delhi chapter of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) and the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) Wednesday organized a protest march opposing fee hikes and fake admissions in Delhi University (DU).
In a memorandum to the DU vice-chancellor Dinesh Singh, DUSU president Ajay Chhikara said: "The students of DU are facing many problems due to anti-student policies and programmes of the university administration."
The protestors demanded a rollback in all fee hikes including hostel fee and examination fee and a probe into fake admissions.
"The issues ranging from fee-hikes to fake admission scams are raising concern at DU," he added.
The protesters also demanded a 24X7 reading room for DUSU members, dedicated railways reservation counter for the university students, removal of traffic from 'Chhatra Marg', regularisation of rikshaw fares in north Campus and strict verification procedures during admissions.
According to Chhikara: "The issues need to be resolved at the earliest to ensure a free and fair academic environment."
The protest was organised at the arts faculty in the north campus.
