Mangaluru, Jul 20: ‘Picture’, produced by Shilpa Ganesh under the Golden Movies banner, is set for release on July 24. Having previously produced acclaimed Kannada films, Golden Movies is venturing into Tulu cinema for the first time. Directed by Sandeep Bedra, the film is being made in both Tulu and Kannada.

Newcomer Nithyaprakash Bantwal and ‘Ondu Motteya Kathe’ fame Amrutha Sudu play the lead roles in the family entertainer, which is rich in comedy and features many well-known artistes from the Tulu stage and screen.

Speaking about the Tulu artistes at a recent press conference, Golden Star Ganesh said that all the major artistes from Tulunadu are part of the film. He recalled spending a day with them, describing it as a delightful experience. He noted that stalwarts such as Devdas Kapikad, Naveen D Padil, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor and Aravind Bolar possess more experience than the filmmakers have years of age. Ganesh said he remembered seeing their names on theatre posters during his college visits to Mangaluru and expressed gratitude that such distinguished artistes had worked on the film with affection and enthusiasm.

Ganesh further revealed that, as this was Golden Movies’ maiden Tulu production, the team wanted to include something special and therefore filmed a song in Kashmir. He added that the song has turned out well and that Picture is the first Tulu film to have been shot in Kashmir.
