Mangaluru, Jul 20: Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, in association with the Mangaluru City police, Central Sub-Division, Mangaluru North police station, Bunder, organised a drug awareness session and interactive discussion on July 20 at 10 am at the Aviation Campus, Hampankatta.

The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging them to make healthy, responsible, and informed choices.

The session was addressed by inspector Sachin Kumar, Mangaluru North police station, Bunder, who interacted with the students and shared valuable insights into the dangers and consequences of drug abuse. He highlighted the physical, mental, social, academic, and legal consequences associated with substance abuse and emphasised the importance of staying away from drugs and making positive choices for a healthy and successful future.

Head constable Pramod also addressed the gathering and supported the awareness initiative. The interactive discussion provided students with an opportunity to engage with the police officials, clarify their doubts, and gain a better understanding of the challenges associated with drug abuse and the importance of prevention. In addition to drug abuse, the students were also informed about cybercrime, online safety, and the importance of being cautious while using digital platforms.

As part of the programme, students took a pledge to stay away from drugs and promoting a healthy and responsible lifestyle. The session encouraged students to remain aware, positive, focused, and healthy, while promoting the message “Beda Bro – Say No to Drugs, Yes to Dreams.” The programme served as a meaningful platform for sensitising students about the dangers of substance abuse and inspiring them to contribute towards building a safer and healthier society.

The session concluded successfully with the support and guidance of the dean, Dr Pavithra Kumari, student welfare officer, heads of departments, guest lecture coordinator, faculties and staff members of Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University.
