Mangaluru, Jul 21: The Investiture Ceremony of the Students’ Council 2026-27 of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru was held on July 20 in the L F Rasquinha Hall of LCRI Block.
Prof Milos Lichner, SJ, vice chancellor of Trnava Univrsity, Slovakia, was the chief guest. Fr Brian Pereira, SJ, rector of St Aloysius Institutions presided over the programme. Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, vice chancellor; Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar of the University, Dr Anup Denzil Veigas, chairperson, Students’ Council; Binni Chan, assistant chairperson, students’ council and students’ council leaders were on the dais.



























Prof Milos Lichner in his speech congratulated the elected office bearers of the Students’ Council. He spoke on the five principles of leadership as the utmost necessity.
Addressing the students, Dr Praveen Martis, SJ said, “Leadership is the special quality that you have in yourselves. Develop good qualities to prove yourselves as good leaders.” He suggested that the Students’ Council members should collaborate with the staff and encourage the involvement of students in the institutional activities.
The rector, Fr Brian Pereira, SJ in his Presidential remarks said, “Leadership is not a position, it is a passion. Be proud of where you come from and develop the power of empowerment. Being on the council is not a privilege, but a responsibility. Be a true leader and become a role model to others.”
Dr Praveen Martis, SJ administered the oath to the president Giselle Pearl Vas, II B.Tech, after which, she administered the oath to the vice president, Jeevan DMello, II BBA; secretary, Sathyaprasad G Pai, II BSc; joint secretary, Rachel Maria Pais, II BSc; cultural secretary, Viveka M S Demelo E Granjo, II BEd, sports secretary, Simone D’Souza, II BCom; academic affairs secretary, Piyush Shenoy, II LLB, student welfare secretary, Gratian Rovin Fernandes, II BA, outreach and social responsibility secretary, Ajay Parkhe Dipak, II BA, media, communication and public relations secretary, Reon Vivian Veigas, II BVoc and environment and sustainability secretary, Zalifa Nassir, II BCA and all the class representatives and association secretaries.
On this occasion, the students’ council directory of 2026-27 was released by the dignitaries.
The deans of various Schools, Dr Manohar Serrao, Dr Aruna Kalkur, Dr Asha Abraham, Dr Renita Maria D’Souza, Dr Mamatha, Claret Vinaya Pereira, Dr Loveena Lobo, Dr Ruban S, Dr Suchetha Vijayakumar, Dr Racheal Natasha Mary, Dr Melisa Goveas, Sharolin Menezes, Dr Delna D Lobo, Dr Sneha Balaraj and Associate deans were present during programme.
Binni Chan introduced the chief guest. Verina, a BCom student meticulously compered the programme. Dr Anup Denzil Veigas welcomed the gathering. Giselle Pearl Vas, president of students’ council briefed the projects to be initiated by the Council. Jeevan DMello, vice president of students’ council rendered the vote of thanks.
