Hyderabad, Jul 21: Four people, including three members of the same family, lost their lives while nine others sustained injuries in two separate road accidents reported in Telangana on Tuesday, police officials said.
The deadliest accident took place in Sangareddy district, where a car carrying members of a family from Maharashtra crashed into a road divider near Bachupalli in Kalher mandal during the early hours of the morning.
According to police, the family, hailing from Nanded, was travelling to Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to receive relatives arriving from abroad. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to slam into the divider. The impact overturned the car, which then plunged off the road.
Two occupants, including a four-year-old girl, died instantly at the scene, while another injured passenger succumbed while being shifted to hospital. Five others travelling in the vehicle suffered injuries and were admitted to the Government Hospital in Narayankhed for treatment.
Police personnel reached the accident site immediately, carried out rescue operations, and shifted the bodies to the Narayankhed hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered by Kalher police, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.
In another road accident in Khammam district, one person was killed and four others were injured after a DCM vehicle collided with a private bus near the Kodad crossroads in Yedulapuram.
Police said the bus, carrying around 40 passengers, was travelling from Hyderabad to Odisha when the collision occurred. The injured victims were rushed to the Government Hospital in Khammam for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Telangana witnessed another fatal crash a day earlier in the Hyderabad outskirts. A 22-year-old student, identified as Varun, died after the car he was driving rammed into the boundary wall of an apartment complex in Yapral under the Jawahar Nagar police station limits.
Varun, the son of an Army personnel, was returning home with two friends, Ali and Arun, when the accident occurred near Om Shree Signet Apartments on Monday. Both passengers sustained injuries.
Preliminary findings suggest that the vehicle was travelling at high speed, causing the driver to lose control before crashing into the compound wall. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
