Lucknow, Jul 26: Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested 14 people and detained two juveniles for their alleged involvement in a high-value burglary at a businessman's residence, recovering about Rs 1.29 crore in stolen cash, officials said on Sunday.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (East) Subodh Gautam, bags containing cash were stolen from the residence of businessman Pankaj Agrawal in Railway Ganj on the intervening night of July 16 and 17.
Agrawal lodged a complaint naming his three domestic helps, following which a case was registered at the Kotwali City Police Station. Police subsequently formed teams comprising the Special Operations Group (SOG), SWAT and local officers to investigate the burglary.

During the investigation, police found that the three domestic helps had allegedly mixed sleeping pills into the food of the family members before calling their associates to the house.
"After everyone fell asleep, they called their associates, who arrived in a pickup vehicle and fled with bags containing cash," Gautam said.
Police said sustained investigation led to the arrest of the accused one by one, eventually exposing the entire gang involved in the burglary.
According to investigators, the domestic helps had also contacted two juveniles before carrying out the crime.
Officials said around Rs 1.29 crore in cash has been recovered from the accused, and further investigation is in progress.
