New Delhi, Jul 29: The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has warned of launching fresh peaceful protests, alleging continued police harassment of students who participated in demonstrations against the NEET 2026 paper leak despite an earlier understanding with the government.
The Gen Z-led satirical outfit had suspended its agitation at Jantar Mantar on July 25 following the resignation of then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and after the Centre reportedly accepted several of its demands.
However, CJP founder Dipke on Tuesday alleged that students were being targeted by the police and cautioned that the organisation would return to the streets if the alleged harassment continued.
"If the harassment of students at the hands of the police continues, the Cockroach Janata Party will respond with a massive peaceful protest soon. The government must stop targeting and witch-hunting students," Dipke said in a post on social media.
The warning came after CJP volunteer Junaid moved the Supreme Court, alleging that he was illegally detained and that his family had been subjected to coercive police action. Junaid had earlier gained attention for arranging food and logistical support for protesters during the Jantar Mantar agitation.
The group has also alleged that authorities have violated the understanding reached during the protests by registering cases against demonstrators. CJP spokesperson Ranka claimed that students had been arrested in Bihar and West Bengal, while volunteers and protesters in Delhi and other states were being detained or placed under surveillance.
Demanding the immediate withdrawal of all FIRs filed against protesters, the release of detained students and a written copy of the agreement with the government, Ranka warned that CJP would resume its agitation if the demands were not met.
The organisation has maintained that the protests would remain peaceful and said it would continue to press for legal protection for students who participated in the anti-NEET paper leak demonstrations.
