New Delhi, Jul 29: India’s smartphone exports reached a record high of nearly $10 billion in the first quarter of FY27, driven largely by strong shipments of Apple iPhones manufactured in the country, according to recent data.
Smartphone exports by value rose 23.4 per cent to $9.84 billion during the April-June quarter, compared to $7.97 billion recorded during the same period last fiscal year.

The United States continued to remain the largest destination for India’s smartphone exports, reflecting strong global demand for devices manufactured in the country.
The surge in smartphone shipments also contributed significantly to India’s overall electronics exports. Smartphones accounted for 64.8 per cent of the country’s total electronics exports worth $15.2 billion during the April-June period.
The latest growth follows a strong performance in recent years, with exports emerging as a major driver of India’s smartphone manufacturing sector. In 2025, shipments of ‘Made in India’ smartphones increased by 8 per cent, supported by a 28 per cent rise in exports.
Apple’s manufacturing partners have played a key role in expanding India’s smartphone export market. Foxconn Hon Hai recorded a 48 per cent year-on-year growth in exports in 2025 due to increased iPhone shipments, while Samsung also saw a 4 per cent rise in its export contribution.
Earlier this year, India’s iPhone exports crossed a record Rs 2 lakh crore in FY26, making Apple the country’s largest branded exporter across all product categories.
Overall smartphone exports from India stood at around Rs 2.6 trillion ($29.4 billion) during the fiscal year, with iPhones accounting for more than 75 per cent of the total exports.
The expansion of smartphone manufacturing and exports has been supported by the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, reforms in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), increased budgetary support for electronics manufacturing and recent foreign direct investment (FDI) policy relaxations.
The growth highlights India’s rising position as a global electronics manufacturing hub, with smartphone exports emerging as one of the key contributors to the country’s manufacturing and export ambitions.
