Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 31: The feast of St Ignatius of Loyola was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm at St Aloysius High School.

Prior to the cultural programme, the Catholic students gathered in the school chapel for the Eucharistic celebration. Fr Maxim D’Souza was the main celebrant. The Holy Mass was a prayerful experience, inspiring the students to follow the values of St Ignatius in their daily lives.

After the Mass, all the students assembled in the high school hall for the cultural programme. The programme began with a melodious prayer song.

The dignitaries, Fr Johnson Pinto SJ, headmaster, Lancy D’Souza, assistant headmaster, Edward Machado, Prashanth Amin, Theodore Mascarenhas, and Conrad Mascarenhas, representatives of the 1974 batch, were escorted by the school pupil leaders.

The winners of the quiz competition on the life of St Ignatius of Loyola were honoured with prizes.

In his message, Fr Johnson Pinto SJ highlighted that St Ignatius dedicated his life to the service of humanity. He reminded the students that St Ignatius was a man of dreams and deep desire, and encouraged everyone to draw inspiration from his life. He urged the students to see a ray of hope and experience God’s blessings even in unpleasant situations and problems of life. He also advised them never to be satisfied with simple achievements, but to strive for greater goals.

The cultural programme included a meaningful skit titled “A Noble Bishop” enacted by the students, followed by a wonderful Bollywood dance performance which added colour and joy to the celebration.

The programme was gracefully compered by Melin Lobo and Jashua D’Souza. Laveena Monteiro was the coordinator of the programme. Kushi S Alape welcomed the gathering, and Lenora D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. The beautiful backdrop for the programme was creatively designed by John Chandran.

The celebration concluded with the National Anthem.
