Anna Threatens of a Bigger Lokpal Movement

New Delhi, Mar 23 (IANS): As the all-party meeting on the Lokpal bill failed to reach consensus, Anna Hazare Friday threatened a bigger anti-corruption stir if the government fails to bring in his version of the bill by the 2014 general elections.

"Today (Friday), an all-party meeting was convened on the Jan Lokpal bill but no consensus could be reached. If the government does not bring the Jan Lokpal bill by the 2014 election, we will have to organize a big movement," said the anti-graft activist after the meeting.

Referring to the poll results of five states in which the Congress fared badly, Hazare said the Congress will have to face poor results in the 2014 general elections if the bill is not passed.

"We are not fighting against the government but for the better future of citizens of this country. People want the Lokpal bill and they are enthusiastic about it," he told reporters.

"The government said yes to our bill (Jan Lokpal) in the joint committee, standing committee and even in parliament, but reversed its decision suddenly," he added.

Hazare said Team Anna will travel across the country and tell people that the government's version of the bill is "useless".

"Twenty-five people who fought against corruption were murdered. We have been stressing on protection of whistle-blowers through a law but the government is not ready to do it," he said.

"On 25 (March), we will tell people that the government is insensitive. We shall sit at Jantar Mantar," said Hazare who will sit on a day-long fast in solidarity with the families of slain whistle-blowers.

The cause Anna fighting for looks good, but the means adopted looks not good. Because the govt did not pass the bill the Anna team canvassed against congress and took credit for Congress poor performance. So what right has the Anna to ask the same party to pass the bill whom the team punished? And the govt is a coalition one, what did Anna team do to pressure the ruling partners? And what did Anna team do when the other opp parties oppsed the bill or did not cooperate to move the bill? Did ever the BJP, Communists, Aiadmk, SP, BSP and all support Anna to move their drafted Bill? Wipping the party having no majority and cannot pass bill on its own is not fair. Let Anna team take on the whole parliament if they are really concerned.

Dear Annaji,at this age your anti-corruption movement, struggle is really for the genuine cause of the people of India and is highly laudable. But in country like India total eradication of corruption is next to impossible coz it has already reached to its deepest root grass level starting from our daily life, ordinary man, grocery, auto drivers, malls and so on to high rank officials/bureaucrats.Whereever you see there it is corruption corruption everywhere. It is disgusting, frustrating. No remedy for this cancer,no chemotherapy treatment,it is highly in advanced stage.Your movement alone can not solve/wipe out the problem.Whole nation should unite/combine and fight this evil of corruption, severe punishment like death sentence should be awarded to those who are involved and for the real culprits.India can not be corruption free nation under any circustance,at any cost. However Sriman Annaji my all the best wishes for your fight/struggle.But take care of your health condition.May Almighty God bestow you enough strength.Long live ANNAJI!!!
