Mangaluru, Aug 6: The taluk-level higher primary and high school boys' and girls' chess tournament for the academic year 2026–2027 was inaugurated at St Ann's High School, Bolar. The event was organized by the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, the department of School Education, and the BEO Office (Mangaluru North Zone), in collaboration with St Ann's High School.
Sr Marie Evelyn AC, joint secretary of St Ann's Group of Educational Institutions, presided over the function. The chief guest, Jeevan Shetty (TPEO, Mangaluru North), encouraged the students to develop focus and strategy through the game of chess.
The dignitaries then lighted the traditional lamp to officially Inaugurate the event. Students from across the taluk participated with great enthusiasm. Teacher Veena Lobo compered the inaugural function.
