Lucknow, Aug 8: Bollywood actors Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow on Friday, August 7, while promoting their upcoming film ‘Batwara 1947’, which is set against the backdrop of the Partition of India.

The actors were in Lucknow as part of the promotional activities for the film, which is scheduled to hit theatres next week. Sunny Deol’s son Karan Deol also joined the promotional event earlier in the day.

Following the promotions, Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta paid a courtesy visit to Yogi Adityanath at his official residence in Lucknow. Photographs from the meeting were subsequently shared on social media by both the actor and the chief minister.

Sharing pictures from the meeting on Instagram, Sunny Deol said he was pleased to meet the Uttar Pradesh chief minister and described their conversation as pleasant and warm.

Yogi Adityanath also shared photographs from the meeting on X, stating that a courtesy meeting had taken place with actor Sunny Deol and actress Preity Zinta at his government residence in Lucknow.

‘Batwara 1947’ is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and also features Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh alongside Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. The film is set during the Partition and revolves around a family whose lives are disrupted by violence, displacement and the upheaval surrounding the division of the country.

The film marks the reunion of Santoshi and Sunny Deol nearly three decades after their previous collaboration. Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman has scored the music, while the lyrics have been penned by Javed Akhtar.
